Parks Measure M Citizens Oversight Committee
The purpose of the Sonoma County “Parks For All” Citizens Oversight Committee is to provide transparency and ensure fiscal accountability for the Sonoma County Parks Improvement, Water Quality, and Fire Safety Measure passed by the voters in November 2018. Measure M established a 1/8 cent special transaction and use tax (sales tax) countywide for a ten-year period (April, 1, 2019) to support parks throughout the county.

Powers and Duties:
The duties of the committee are to ensure that funds are budgeted for purposes consistent with the measure and that all jurisdictions comport with the maintenance of effort language in the measure. The committee's responsibilities do not include decision-making on spending priorities, financing plans or tax rate projections or assumptions. The committee has no authority to direct County or City staff or officials.

Membership Composition
7 members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. 5 members appointed by each supervisorial district. 2 members appointed from a list of names submitted by the Mayors of Sonoma County Cities. In the absence of nominations from the City Mayors, the Sonoma County Parks Advisory Commission Chair and Vice Chair will serve on the Oversight Committee.
